In supermarkets, the food section is always the busiest corner—freshly baked bread exudes a wheaty aroma, fresh meat in the refrigerator glows rosy, and frozen fruits and vegetables in the freezer are plump and bright. But few people realize that the hidden hero behind keeping these foods in their appetizing state is EVA film. "Before, when I used regular film, juices would often seep out and stain the trays, making cleaning a hassle. Now with EVA film, the trays stay spotless, which is pleasing to customers, and we're seeing more and more repeat customers," Mr. Wang said with a smile.


Fruit and Vegetable Section: Preserving Juiciness and Extending Shelf Life


On the shelves in the fruit and vegetable section, cherry tomatoes and bunches of grapes are packed in transparent, crisper boxes covered with EVA film. The fruit's vibrant color and moist texture are so captivating that you can't help but want to grab a box.


"Summer fruit is most susceptible to losing water and softening, especially berries like strawberries and blueberries. Wrapped in ordinary film, they'll wilt in a day." Ms. Zhang, the fruit and vegetable section manager, picked up a box of strawberries and said, "Look at this box of strawberries wrapped in EVA film. After three days, they're still juicy and their stems are still green. EVA film regulates moisture permeability, preventing water from evaporating too quickly while also allowing excess moisture to escape, preventing mold. Previously, the strawberry loss rate was 20%, but now it's down to 8%. Even the late-shift strawberries, which are slow to sell, are practically sold out."

Our leafy green sales have increased by 15% now, and that's all thanks to the EVA film," added Ms. Zhang.


Frozen Food Area: Withstands low temperatures, retains its "original flavor" even after thawing


In the freezer, frozen dumplings, shrimp, and egg tart wrappers are neatly arranged in the freezer. The EVA film-wrapped bags remain soft even in temperatures as low as -25°C, without the cracking or wrinkling typical of ordinary films. The ingredients inside remain intact, with no ice crystals accumulating. "Frozen foods put the most stress on the film's low-temperature resistance." Brother Zhao, the frozen food department manager, picked up a bag of quick-frozen dumplings. "We used to use regular freezer film. When we took the dumplings out of the freezer in winter, the film would break if squeezed. The dumplings would easily get damp and stick together, and the skins would rot after thawing, leading to numerous customer complaints. Now we use EVA film, which doesn't become brittle even at -30°C. It locks in the moisture of the ingredients, so the dumplings remain intact after thawing and cooking, just like freshly wrapped. Our return rate for quick-frozen dumplings has dropped from 10% to 1%, and our customer repurchase rate has increased."


More importantly, EVA film's excellent sealing properties prevent the transfer of flavors from ingredients during the freezing process. "Before, dumplings, shrimp, and meat were packed together in the freezer, and they all carried a mixed odor when taken out.
