"Bullet-proof" glass is not magic - today's sharing of TPU laminated film
Look at that photo again. See those spiderweb-like cracks? Imagine if those shards were flying? That's exactly what the TPU interlayer does. It acts like "glue" between the glass panels—but it's much stronger than any glue you've ever used.
Most people think of "bullet-proof glass" as a single, thick piece of glass. That's wrong. It's made by layering glass and TPU film, then subjecting it to extreme heat and pressure (like an industrial-grade sandwich press).
The key to TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) film's success lies in three key attributes:
1. Resilience: Unlike traditional PVB film, TPU can withstand severe impact (bullets, rocks, and even extreme weather) while maintaining its shape. It's like a personal bodyguard for glass.
2. Splash-proof properties: When glass with TPU film is impacted, the film firmly holds onto any debris. Even if it cracks, it won't explode into shattered pieces. This is crucial for cars, banks, or anywhere else requiring security.
3. High-definition and strong: TPU film is completely transparent (without affecting vision!) and flexible enough to accommodate curved glass (such as the windshields of luxury cars).
From "ordinary glass" to "bullet-proof shield"—a complete teardown
Want to turn glass into a protective fortress? The steps are simple:
1. Layer by layer: Stack glass + TPU film + glass in this order (repeat for stronger protection).
2. High-temperature pressure: The stacked materials are fed into a laminating machine and then placed in an autoclave (a giant pressure cooker) to heat and melt, firmly bonding them.
3. Repeated testing: Remember the AK-47 we mentioned earlier? Laminated glass made with our TPU film can reliably stop bullets. And the photo at the top? That's the result without this process.
