Bubbles on Laminated Glass Edges? A Complete Breakdown of Core Issues with EVA Lamination Ovens

Glass processing insights deep dive | Break down the core causes of edge bubbles in laminated glass made by EVA lamination ovens, avoid pitfalls to improve quality, boost efficient production for the glass industry!
Hey fellow laminated glass makers, are you always plagued by edge bubbles on glass produced by EVA lamination ovens? High rework rates, compromised finished product quality, and not being able to pinpoint the root causes are such a hassle!

Today we’re breaking down the core causes once and for all — 3 key issues with 3 corresponding troubleshooting directions. You can start self-checking right after reading this, so save this post now!

❶ Inadequate vacuum control
Stopping vacuuming early when the temperature is above 60℃ allows residual air to seep back into the glass interlayer along with the adhesive flow, which easily forms bubbles on the edges. You must closely monitor the temperature control and vacuuming timing!

❷ Excessively high processing temperature
Unbalanced temperature control inside the oven causes the adhesive on glass edges to overflow and thin out, directly leading to bubbles. This issue is even more likely to occur when interlayer materials are added, so temperature parameters need to be adjusted according to the materials used.

❸ Improper selection/use of sealant
Certain sealants can corrode EVA films, resulting in bubble-like defects around the glass perimeter. It’s crucial to pay attention to the compatibility between the selected sealant and the lamination process!

In fact, the edge bubble issue of laminated glass made by EVA lamination ovens is essentially a matter of mastering process details. Identifying the right causes and making precise adjustments can drastically reduce the defective rate!
